Buttressed

I love the details of architecture. They give regularity to life; they give our eyes things to grab onto — so that we know for certainty that there are things that can be counted upon. We trust that the sun will rise each morning because it has always done so. We trust that buildings are safe to enter; secure to ascend in an elevator, and sound enough to hold us once we have arrived at the penthouse because…. well…. because everything about them tells us they are sound and solid.

These arches, supporting and bracing Notre Dame (Paris) are just such testaments to why such old, ancient, buildings are still safe to be entered. They offer an anchor into the sky for us poor terra ferma bound pedestrians.

Feels Good

Boy, it feels good to be back a work! Us workaholics get really itchy when we aren’t doing what we love and that sure goes for me.
